Excellant parking.

Global sport at its very best. Parking is being played everywhere. Thrill to the ethnic divergences or 'Vive la diffarence' as they say in Chignal Smealy... Excellant! Marvule at the stylistic variations....

...this is only the training pitch, as any fool knows, but...

Irish-Sudanese parking at its very best.

...the Irish-Sudanese team play hard, work hard. And park hard!

And then... The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming!

Ladas parked. Note the fault on the left-side suspension on this model.

The Mudjahadeen Team

This year's hot favourites are of course the Mudjahadeen who are pictured (above) perfecting their technique on the Staines bypass.

The truly creative One Day International Parker will let nothing get in the way of a truly magnificent result. This one needed months of practice. And just look at how the crowds flock to the modern game.

This is an unusual play - evidently the petrol station staff believed this player was going for the standard forecourt manoeuvre, but he was just throwing the competition off the scent! Note how precise the parking was on this shot. Some of the other competitors have left far too much room for others to sneak in...

...if you leave enough space, there's always the chance that a real professional will get in and walk away with the game! Some rather sloppy parking enabled this contestant to produce this magnificent result. You can't be that careless these days, not with the class of player in today's game.

Once again we can only marvel at the adeptness of the players in today's game. It's good to see that the slums and shantytowns are producing some up-and-coming world-class players. Here passers-by stand agog at the skill involved in this stunningly original piece of parking. Watch out the West! You can't rest on your laurels with this class of player emerging from the Latin American countries.

Mavis Swegg of 42 Limpopo Strasse, Wooz Choss P, demonstrates why she dominates the Essex Women's Size 14 All-Comers Friday Afternoon Latin Class of One Day International Parking.

Competition was fierce for this one remaining slot at the Clacton Superhyper-Shopperama but she slid her hubby's Ford Bile into the space with typical aplomb. Tricky manoeuvres!

Afterwards Swegg took a quick swig from her bottle of 'water' and attributed her skill to hours of practice, sensible trousers and the support of husband Boils.

No wonder she's smiling!

This attempt at One Day International Parking, from the early days of the game and the other side of the Pond, is fraught with danger. No reason not to attempt it, though. The main difficulty faced with this well thought-out manoeuvre is getting into and out of the car - step-ladders are not really that practical when attempting something so tricky. It is thought that this is the reason why this particular move was not developed further.

Although a championship-winning piece of exhibition parking, this move is quite exacting on the car, and the clever use of the rear axle does mean that fairly extensive engineering work, not to say a week or two in the body shop, are necessary after attempting this one, so it's not for those with limited funds! Nonetheless, it is an exemplary piece of parking, and was winner of the Golden Wheelclamp award at this year's Open. Thank goodness for corporate sponsorship!

Although Europe has done an awful lot to redress the almost embarrassing discrepancy between the quality of our game and that of our colonial cousins, this result shows that there is still some ground to cover before we can come close to claiming the crown again. What panache! What style! What innovation!

From our Greek Islands correspondent :-

The island of Kos provides many of the usual parking conundrums - but, thankfully, space can often be found half way down a mountain.

Well done!

Meanwhile in Morocco, cars are not the major source of parking sport. In some more remote areas the parkers keep their hand in by parking goats.

Our new chums in Russia may not have many cars to park, but they can show us a trick or two when it comes to parking grandmothers.

Finding places to practice your parking can be hard, with all the roads so busy and parking spaces at such a premium. So this plucky competitor took to practising on his own driveway! It looks as though he could do with a bit more practice, though.

It's wonderful to see people enthusiastically entering fully into their sport. Maybe, however, this parker was a little too enthusiastic.
